Keep Enjin's New Latest Threads Module or keep the old version.

In case you haven't noticed yet, there's a new Latest Threads module that Enjin rolled out over the past few days. It had some issues to begin with, though some of them have since been corrected. Any other problems remaining I'm reasonably certain I can fix. (Like the avatar shape for example.)

Here's what it used to look like (ignore the text color because I was using a custom style for this, sorry!):

And here's what it looks like now, including one of the new features they've added where it updates live:

And the new hover preview feature:

Now, while this is a nice feature, it does impact page load times. It's up to you whether or not we will keep it around, now that Enjin has given us the option to disable it.

So here's the question:
Do you want to keep the new Latest Threads module?

As always, this poll will be open for seven days.
Yes, keep the new version. (Feel free to request tweaks.)

If I can ask something real quick.

I'm aware this update specifically has caused several issues, unsure if this site has been effected directly. But has there been any talk of moving the site away from Enjin? I'm sure you are aware of other host based sites, I more so asking do to the surging of more issues occurring with Enjin; as some sites are experiencing issues with the chat box and it not properly notifying with a message, as well as not receiving PM's or receiving them days later after they've been sent.

I'm looking at this from my point of view, and wonder if it is worth it at this point.

I'm not opposed to this in principle, myself, though having something as legacy as this might be cumbersome. I've seen posts as old as the game here.

Also, there's something emotional about moving beyond the bastion that this enjin community is. I'd hate to think we lost people that might not be actively here for the transition, but nevertheless, might want to come back.

Finally, I think I agree with the sentiment you're offering- since those of us that donate to the site are actually paying for the serives (and errors) of Enjin, I think it's really their call to decide if they are getting their money's worth from the service. Reevaluating that never really hurts.

I will say, though I'm only on Enjin for EBHawk, those that are part of multiple enjin sites might suffer the most from departing EBHawk from the service, since there is no way we can expect to coordinate a mass exodus.

Giving this a healthy bump for attention to show this is a thing.

As for the suggestion of building our own website or potentially finding another provider, it is not that Dakhath couldn't do the work by herself; she's very capable of doing so, and I know she runs a roleplay website aside totally unrelated from anything to do with Star Wars. She does a great job. I visit on occasion. I'm not advertising, however. So I'm not going to post the URL. Message me if you're curious to see it personally.

That aside, unfortunate as it is, Gamer Facebook(™) has been what the majority of the roleplaying community of the Old Republic has used for a very long time. There are hundreds of people. Take a look to SWTOR-RP or Ebon-Hawk.net, which unfortunately either do not get as much activity as they used to. (Hopefully, with 5Tone taking the reins, that sees a change. Wish that the best!)

It would split the community furthermore, when that is already a concern and a problem in the first place. I don't personally believe it to be the wisest decision, nor do I think anyone on the staff disagrees with the sentiment I share. It would cause a lot of problems without resolving any of them.

If you'd like to see the community take a vote on it and see their opinion, I'd roll up a vote-thread. Get your opinion out there. Get others. See what people have to say and contribute to it, but this thread isn't related to that so it isn't the place to do so.

Ironically we're considering a move from an outdated host ourselves over there. I appreciate the compliment and your confidence.

I think you're absolutely right on all of these points. Too many people in the community already use Enjin to justify splitting the site off at this point in time. The community is far too fractured as it is.
Bishop , you're welcome to get a poll thread posted about this. I'd be happy to post it for you, if you like! Just let me know.

Well, it was more so my for my own curiosity. With sites such as shivtr and weebly, it does offer for more freedom as far as overall design goes. Enjin just conveniently condenses it all. I'm not opposed to putting things to a poll, I've been seeing newer guilds in the community have stepped away from Enjin.

Reasons being unknown to me, but experience in the past, I have been told directly they prefer them over Enjin.

I've never personally seen that in my experience, but I wouldn't doubt that there are people out there not preferable to Enjin. As a platform provider, it has a lot of issues. I understand that dislike. It's convenient, nonetheless.

Right, right. I didn't get introduced to Enjin until... late 2013, before my experience had came from shivtr and weebly, or if the funds were available; having its own domain and host. Course, it can be argued Enjin then was a more stable platform, I'm just concerned that Enjin is trying to over-extend itself. If anyone is familiar with Gamespot, and its internal forum community it had at one point during the 00's.

The platform used wasn't all that different form Enjin, one could argue they were a mirror of one another. But ultimately, it ended up much like we see Enjin now; plagued with errors, bugs, site loading concerns. Its a bit more food for thought at this point.

I'd honestly prefer it to be changed back.
