Here goes everyone. Here is the information on the conversion rates around Basic Comms and what will happen when 3.0 launches. Just to reiterate for those unaware, here are the basic changes coming to Commendations:
All PvE Commendations will become Basic Commendations in 3.0.
The Commendation types "Classic" and "Planetary" are being removed from the game.
The types "Elite" and "Ultimate" will remain but the current Comms you have will become Basic.
Warzone and Ranked Warzone Commendations remain untouched.
Here are the conversion rates for all Commendations.
The Basic Commendation cap will remain at 1000. However, when the conversions happen we will allow you to go up to 2000 Commendations. Note that until you go below 1000 again, you will be unable to earn any Basic Commendations. This includes if you buy an item and try to refund it. You must go below 1000 before you can earn more.
There ya go folks! All of the details and conversion rates on Basic Comms in 3.0.
The following items will still be available from drops, vendors, and token exchange vendors:
Arkanian
Black Market
Underworld
Kell Dragon
Dread Forged
Dread Master
The following are no longer available on vendors, but can still be found as drops:
Verpine
Oriconian
The following were only available as drops, and will still be available only as drops:
Shadowed
Dread Touched
Also as a reminder, all current PvP sets will be removed from the game and replaced with the new level 60 sets. You can still find their equivalent appearance in their PvE form though.
Hey folks, here are a handful of Known Issues that you may encounter while progressing through the Shadow of Revan content. This is by no means complete, and will be updated as needed. Thanks!
Grouped players attempting to start Shadow of Revan from another player's ship will encounter a number of issues associated with the cinematics. Workaround: Until we resolve these issues, please start Shadow of Revan from your own player ship Mission Console and then group with other players upon reaching the planet surface.
The final boss of The Ravagers does not provide any loot.
When grouped, players who interact with the Mission Console of the group leader’s ship will receive an error message or not see the Mission “Chapter 5: Shadow of Revan” as available.
If a player walks near the edge of the platform in the Trader’s Causeway, they will be killed.
The Battle of Rishi Flashpoint is missing French and German text for Light and Dark Side choices.
There are many instances of German and French text not appearing in-game.
Shadows and Assassins do not receive any items if selecting the Force-Lord’s Gear Pack when completing the Mission “Heart of the Aggressor” on Yavin 4.
The Mission Reward for the Mission “Shadow of Revan: Prelude” is displayed as “undefined.” The Mission still awards the correct items.
The Rishi Maze Demolisher’s MK-2 set is incorrectly named the Rishi Maze Med-tech’s MK-2.
The Rishi Maze Med’s Techs MK-2 set is incorrectly named the Rishi Maze Demolisher’s MK-2.
The “Wall Gears” Decoration does not drop in the Blood Hunt Flashpoint as intended.
It is currently impossible to complete the healing challenge during Dread Master Raptus’ encounter in Nightmare Dread Palace.
The Yavin Temple Chandelier Decoration does not drop from the Temple of Sacrifice as intended.
The Story Mode Operation tooltip does not include the new level 60 Weeklies and the level 55 Weekly category appears outdated.
Many Galactic Starfighter Component Upgrades have lost functionality.
The Mission "Enemy Within" can be rendered impossible to complete in many cases.
Many Decorations have lost functionality since Game Update 3.0.
The "Jungle's Bounty" spawn item can become unusable. Switching Instances can resolve this in some cases.
Basic Skill Retraining (and costs) intended as a result of the Discipline system originally posted on SWTOR.
Ok so I have an update on the training/re-training of abilities with the launch of 3.0. With all of the changes that hit with 3.0 to Disciplines, it is intended that there are abilities that need to be trained/re-trained. Here are some of the criteria that could cause this to happen:
If an existing ability changed, in name or functionality. This could especially affect Disciplines which used to share an overlapping name and set of abilities, such as Lethality Sniper/Operative.
We adjusted at what level you would acquire certain ranks of skills. If you are a character pre-55 you may be training skills at ranks that were previously unavailable.
In some cases we moved abilities from the Base Class to the Advanced Class or vice-versa. This technically means you could have to retrain an ability you already had, since it changed where/how you got it.
I had not realized the scope of abilities that would need to be trained or I would have been more proactive in alerting everyone to this prior to 3.0. With this in mind, the need to train/re-train abilities in 3.0 is intended and therefore we are not planning on making any changes at this time. I apologize sincerely for the inconvenience this has caused.
Thank you for your understanding.

Solo Mode Flashpoints/Operations clarifications and troubleshooting originally posted on SWTOR.
I thought it would be helpful to make a post covering all of the information I could think of around Solo mode Forged Alliances. There can be some confusion getting into them, especially if something disrupts you part way through. Here is some advice to help get you through!
Things to note to access solo mode:
If you have already completed Forged Alliances in full, you cannot access solo mode in 3.0.
You can only complete each Flashpoint in solo mode, only one time, per character.
You must have the Mission "Prelude to Shadow of Revan" in order to access solo mode. You get this Mission from a terminal on your ship.
As a part of solo mode, you must enter the Flashpoint directly, you cannot use Group Finder.
Once in the Flashpoint, you will have [SOLO] in front of that mission to know you are all set. You should click the icon next to the Mission in your Mission Tracker to summon a special droid companion to help you (the key to solo mode!)
I started into solo mode Forged Alliances, but something happened and now I can't access it.
Try the following steps:
If you are not in a group, the phase door will appear purple if you are in solo mode.
If you are not, reset the instance and try going back in. If that doesn't work...
Talk to the droid/person outside of the Flashpoint and see if they have a quest to offer.
If they do, you should be able to start the Flashpoint in solo mode.
If you cannot, try abandoning the quest for just the Flashpoint (not the prelude) and then try talking to that NPC to accept solo mode.
If that does not work, abandon the Prelude and the Flashpoint quest. Go back to your ship reaccept the Prelude, go to the Flashpoint and talk to the NPC. He should be able to grant you solo mode.
Hopefully these tips should get you back on the correct path of being able to run solo mode Forge Alliances!
Broken GSF resolution plan originally posted on SWTOR.
AlexModny wrote:
1.) What went wrong?
There was a code bug in 3.0 that broke how some of the abilities (such as Engine Suppression on EMP Missiles) check to see if the character has unlocked the required upgrade. This resulted in the character having the ability, the player using the ability but the ability not activating all effects because it didn't see the character having the upgrade.
2.) When can we expect a fix?
As of this moment the fix is slated for 3.0.1 but it hasn't gone through QA approval yet so if they find issues there is potential for a delay.
3.) Will the fix include just things that broke in 3.0 or all the stuff broken for the last 7 months?
The fix will just include the abilities that broke in 3.0 via this code bug. I will give updates on other GSF issues down the line as I have updates.
I apologize for this issue to all our flyboys and flygirls. Cheers! :csw_xwing:
Happy holidays everyone! Beginning tomorrow, the Cartel Market will have daily surprise sales for the next 12 days (12/18/2014 – 12/29/2014). You can find out what’s on sale in game, but we will also be posting here and on social media the items going on the Market that day. The Market will be updated at 11:00am CT each day.
First off, Happy New Years everyone! I apologize if you feel a lack of communication around this issue. Unfortunately, I haven't provided much since I do not have a status update as of yet.
Here is what I can tell you. We definitely have not forgotten about this and the team is still assessing what the cause is, and how we can begin to address it. What I am going to do is to work with the team to get a status update with as much detail as I can, by next Friday (although hopefully before then!).
Thank you again for your continued patience. We know that dealing with these issues isn't the best experience and we will get them addressed as soon as we can!
Performance and Server stability clarification originally posted on SWTOR.
EricMusco wrote:
Hey folks,
As I mentioned in my post last week, we have been working hard on assessing and figuring out how to address the “lag” issues which have been prominent since Game Update 3.0 went live. After speaking with our engineers, we thought the following would help explain what’s happening and what we are doing to address the issues:
What The Problems Are
Here are some of the issues that players have been experiencing since the launch of Game Update 3.0:
Server performance: Ability delay, Latency issues
Client performance: A drop in framerate
The game having a general “laggy” feeling, which is really a mix of the above
Causes and Their Status
As you might expect, when you start to talk about performance, almost every game system has an effect. Once the performance issues with Game Update 3.0 were identified, we needed to isolate what was causing them, and narrowed it down to two main sources:
Server code – There is a whole lot going on behind the scenes to keep the game running. The main symptom of server related issues is something we call “hitching”. Server hitching is the main culprit behind what a lot of you will commonly refer to as lag in SWTOR. The servers are busy processing responses from all the players at once, and sometimes a particular activity on the server can take longer than usual. This is basically the equivalent of a low “framerate” on the server rather than on your client. Server hitching occurs when you issue a command on your client (such as activating an ability, moving your character, opening a vendor) and there is a delay in the server actually performing that command. The server will “hitch” in its response since it is taking a long time to deal with your action or the actions of other players. For the most part, this behavior is responsible for nearly all of the problem areas mentioned above.
Note: Many of you noticed that shortly after Game Update 3.0 we made a quick change to limit the amount of players in each planetary instance. This was an interim solution to this problem as lowering the number players in a specific area reduces the impact of server hitching to the player. We’ll continue to monitor and adjust this number as needed.
Status: We’ve implemented changes in Patch 3.0.2 to address some of these issues. We will continue to monitor and make additional adjustments, as needed.
The User Interface – Next up is our game’s UI. Following Game Update 3.0, we noticed a large spike in time spent rendering our UI. This caused a lot of the framerate issues many of you reported. Keep in mind that the UI will always have some performance impact versus having it turned off—it’s busy doing something, after all. The question is how much time is acceptable to spend rendering the UI, and what can we do to improve it.
Status: Several changes have been made for 3.0.2 to address the UI’s performance issues.
I learned a few other things while talking with the development team. First is our data tracking around performance. We are constantly monitoring the performance of the game to determine when things have gotten worse and to find ways to address it. That data, as well as your feedback, reports to Customer Service, and information from the Forums helped isolate the major focus areas. After reviewing all our performance data, we were able to pinpoint some pretty critical areas. The engineers informed me that any code change will have a profound impact regardless of the change, so they consider them very high risk. That means extensive testing! A bad change could take down the entire service, or at least cause some surprising bugs.
Second is how performance is adjusted - think of it as a sliding scale. Our engineers will constantly make optimizations where we can to help move that slider in the direction of best performance. When we implement new features, or new systems, typically they require additional game resources and impact our overall performance and the slider moves away from “best”. For example, last year we made substantial changes to the way our chat systems worked and it had a dramatic and positive impact on performance. In fact, performance for the chat system has never been better. Each time we patch the game, it typically includes slider performance adjustments of some type, even if they have a very small impact. We know Game Update 3.0 moved the slider in the wrong direction, but we fully intend to get to back to pre-3.0 performance and improve it even more.
I know performance is far from perfect and that changes aren’t coming quite as fast as we wish they were. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused many of you. Please know that we are working on them and will get performance back to a better place!
Cyan Sphere and Greet Event clarification originally posted on SWTOR.
EricMusco wrote:
Hey folks!
When we started the Life Day event, we got questioned on two things almost immediately. Where is the Gree event and why is the Cyan Sphere on this vendor without it? Two valid questions. As I mentioned before the end of the year, it is our intent that the next time you see the Gree event it will be scaled to level 60. I am here to deliver news on both of these fronts!
First, it is our plan right now that the Gree event will return end of February/March timeframe. We are still working out the exact timing but we will update that information on our events page when we have it. Second, I know there was concern around the Cyan Sphere and its cost. We are going to be moving the Cyan Sphere vehicle onto the Gree event vendor with 3.1. Also, just to make sure the vehicle can be attained by both the Gree and Life Day participants, you will find two separate ways to buy the vehicle. You can either buy it with a mix of Snow-covered Parcels and Grey Helix, or just Grey Helix alone. This way regardless of which event you tended to participate in, it is still accessible to you!
Again, we will update more specific timing when we have it and you will now find the Cyan Sphere on the Gree vendor with 3.1.
Bounty Contract week cancellation clarification originally posted on SWTOR.
EricMusco wrote:
Hey folks,
Quick heads up for you. As you know the intent is that Bounty Contract Week is a one week event which occurs each month. We ran into some issues with the event and weren't able to get the bugs addressed in time so we are not going to run the event in January. However, it is our intent that it will return in all its glory in February.
Ranked PvP Season 4 details originally posted on SWTOR.
AlexModny wrote:
Hello PvPers!
Season 4 is planned to last roughly 3 months, starting with Game Update 3.1 and ending with Game Update 3.2. As of right now, Game Update 3.1 is planned to go live in about a month (and is already on PTS, so please check it out!). However, as always, this is subject to change.
After the end of Season 4, we would normally have a Pre-Season lasting a few weeks to a few months. However, for Season 5 there will be no Pre-Season – we will go straight from Season 4 to Season 5. We decided to nix the Pre-Season because there will not be a gear tier update for PvP in Game Update 3.2, which negates the main reason we had Pre-Seasons in the past (Allowing as many players as possible to gear up during that time). This does not mean we are doing away with Pre-Seasons forever or that there won’t ever be new tiers of PvP gear, just that Season 5 will not have either of those things.
I also wanted to assure you that we continue to read and value your feedback when it comes to the Ranked PvP experience and rewards suggestions. Two of the adjustments we will be enacting is that the Top 96 title in Season 4 will be Class specific (akin to what it was in Season 2) as a result from this forum’s feedback. Secondly the Tier 3 rewards (lowest) will have a floor rating in Season 5. We will watch the season and see where ratings are then set where the cutoff number will be, but characters with very low rating will not be receiving any rewards. The goal here is to reward players that are participating in the spirit of ranked play. These are minor adjustments to be sure, but nevertheless is an example of upcoming changes based on your feedback.
Be on the lookout for more updates regarding Ranked PvP in the future including rewards and other developments. We are very excited about 2015 for Ranked Seasons and hope that y’all are too! As always, looking forward to your feedback!
